My latest handbag project  is to make poppies for 5000 Poppies.  The crochet hook and wool fit nicely into a little cosmetic purse, the knitting needles are a bit trickier so I save knitting poppies for my knitting group or in the car. So far I have made sixty poppies, mostly crocheted, which reflects the transportability of the handbag project.

They can be knitted

or crocheted

big or small, but no bigger than 15 cm diameter

any shade of red , although, this looks too brown amongst the rest

your own pattern or a pattern from the the 5000 poppies blog

The idea behind this project is to create a field of poppies, as a tribute to servicemen and women who have served in the wars and peacekeeping operation on behalf of the nation. The display of poppies will be in Fed Square  as part of the 2015 Anzac Commemoration.

My small but growing field of poppies

and a tiny one, made with perle cotton, to wear as a brooch on Remembrance Day
